New Car= Roadtrip!

In order to maintain our status as cinnamon roll searchers and because Marilyn has a new car and it was a beautiful day, we drove to Newark to the Simply Rising Cafe.( You can see the reflection of the car in the window on the left.)

Mouth watering amount of cinnamon filling! Yum!

We were warmly greeted by Seraphinea, one of the proprietors. We were drawn like magnets to the case with the cinnamon rolls. The amount of cinnamon filling that we could see on the top of these beauties told us that our drive was going to be well worth it. One of the unique features of these cinnamon rolls is that they are not iced but when you order you are ask if you would like yours to be drizzled with icing. That was a very quick yes for us. Who would say no??? Seraphinea also offered to warm the rolls. Talk about personalized service!

Topped with  lusciousness! Filled with scrumptious cinnamon!

Co-owner and baker, Edward Roberts, very generously shared his formula for these wonderful rolls. He makes them from a bread dough and fills them with a perfectly balanced combination of sugar, cinnamon, and brown sugar. The topping is a classic powdered sugar glaze. The result is delicious.

The Simply Rising Cafe offers a variety of other items on their breakfast and lunch menus. It’s an easy drive from Columbus with the possiblity of other stops along the way.   Downtown Newark around the courthouse square has other interesting buildings and businesses to see including a building designed by noted Chicago architect Louis Sullivan .

  2. Thanks so much for visiting our cafe! We’ve shared your blog and posted the great photos that you took. We hope that you will come back again. There are some other great shops downtown to visit, especially if like wine, antiques and bling. Edward & Seraphinea
